Hi all,
I am attending another GIS/CAMA Conference after many many years! I presented a couple of projects related to the application of GIS in Mass Appraisal in the New Orleans 1999 and Miami 2000 conferences; then, I was working as a senior research appraiser in the City of Regina, SK, Canada.
In 1999, I also wrote a paper for the then Assessment Journal which dealt with Modelling the Value of Location using GIS and Spatial Autocorrelation.
Over the last 15 years, Mass Appraisal systems (CAMA) have been increasingly integrated with GIS and geo-statistical techniques. GIS and related techniques have also been integrated with similar property valuations systems such as Automated Valuation Models (AVMs).
I truly believe that this year's GIS/CAMA Conference should not only be of interest to property assessors but also to the full community working on property valuation, Automated Valuation Models (AVM's), appraisal QA/QC, and collateral underwriting. There are many potential synergies among CAMAs, AVMs, spatial econometrics, and geo-statistics communities.
Looking forward to meeting you all at the conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
