In north Georgia and south Tennessee, Union and Confederate armies clashed during the fall of 1863 in some of the hardest fighting of the Civil War. The prize was Chattanooga, a key rail center and the gateway to the heart of the Confederacy.
In September 1863 the Union Army of the Cumberland was routed at the Battle of Chickamauga and retreated into Chattanooga. Over the next two months Confederate forces besieged the trapped Union army. Finally, in late November 1863 the Union army won a series of battles around Chattanooga and drove the Confederates south into Georgia. Learn more about the

On Thursday afternoon, we are thrilled to offer an optional (no-cost) tour to visit the
Chickamauga Battlefield and are pleased to announce that we will also have the services of a Battlefield guide.
The tour will begin at 1:00 PM with a brief visit to the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center to see a film and the exhibits and then get out on the battlefield.
We’ll have a signup sheet at the conference registration desk during the week. If interested,
sign-up by Tuesday afternoon. When signing up, please indicate whether or not you have a car and if you are willing to drive other interested individuals to the site. This is an un-hosted and no-fee optional event and we’re not providing transportation. Carpooling is encouraged as much as possible. The tour of the battlefield itself requires transportation, as it is extensive.

From Interstate 75: At Exit 350 take Battlefield Parkway (Georgia 2) west to Fort Oglethorpe. Turn left at the intersection of Battlefield Parkway and Lafayette Road. Go one mile on Lafayette Road to the park entrance and visitor center.
From Interstate 24: At Exit 180 take U.S. Highway 27 south (Rossville Boulevard) to Fort Oglethorpe. At the intersection of Battlefield Parkway, continue straight through the intersection onto Lafayette Road to the park entrance one mile ahead.
